I like to say that Bay Pointe is a wonderful place for assisted living residents as long as they are mobile but if they are not and need a higher level assistance this would not be a good fit for them. The caregivers are friendly and kind but when the resident's care needs change and increase, they are not patient at all. The staff are not equipped, skilled, or trained to physically assist people who can't ambulate for themselves. There were times the staff left my mom sitting on toilet alone for 45 minutes. They guaranteed they would provide a two person assist but they did not a lot of time. They are extremely understaffed and under-skilled for they what they promise.

They do a pretty good job to offer a variety of dishes, and the flavor profile and preparation is good. They also offer lots of alternative choices, more per day than I've seen at other places. As far as the extra care services, I feel like you have to be extra vigilant to make sure your loved one's care plan is implemented the way you want it to be. Consistency has been lacking lately. Sometimes it's been difficult to get in contact with the overseeing nurse to rectify any issues. Right now I'm not even getting a response from her. It might have something to do with the fact that they haven't had an active director as of the last couple of weeks. But nevertheless, I've been struggling because there's no alternative contact person.

We get emails all the time with any updates. They're close by to medical facilities, so that's been a Godsend. The shuttle service they have has been very accommodating, so we've been very happy with that. They take the residents to doctor appointments, and on outings. Recently they went to the Tulip Festival. My family members love the food. They were at a different place with turnover in the kitchen that negatively affected the food, and now at Cogir of Northgate they rave about the food. They have no complaints and are very happy. The only downside has been the fact that there aren't any sidewalks along 15th NE. So if they're out walking with their electric walkers, they don't feel comfortable going on an outing to the grocery store due to the lack of sidewalks. Overall we've had a good experience, and would definitely recommend it to others.
