About the facility St. Joseph Village of Chicago

This vibrant urban community sits nestled amongst several Chicago parks and is just a stone’s throw from the breathtaking St. Hyacinth’s Basilica. The community offers cozy pet-friendly apartments, quality assisted living services, and professional memory care. St. Joseph Village is only a few minutes from downtown Chicago, making it easy for residents to enjoy a day of shopping, fine dining, or taking in a show.

Founded in 1894 as St. Joseph Home, the community became St. Joseph Village in 2006 and underwent a significant remodel. Chicago’s first Catholic senior living facility, St. Joseph Village has a rich history of offering optimum care to its residents.

Residents can attend Mass daily in St. Joseph’s quiet chapel where soft sunshine pours in through the windows, and then enjoy made-from-scratch meals in the community’s elegant dining room. St. Joseph’s seniors can get pampered in the on-site beauty salon and get their hearts pumping in the community fitness center. In the warmer seasons they can take advantage of the gardens and furnished patio. Residents of St. Joseph can remain integrated with the greater Chicago community and take advantage of all that it has to offer.

Excellent care both medical and personal

My Mom was in skilled nursing at St. Joseph Village of Chicago. She received excellent care (especially during the day) from her nurses, the CNAs and her doctor. If I had a question or concern, when I called her doctor, he always returned my calls within that same day. There is room for improvement with the availability of staff at night to help with patients" needs, but overall, I was pleased with both her medical and personal needs care.

My review of St. Joseph Village of Chicago

Our family had an in person experience and the setting of the community was very different, it was much more of an inner city setting and it was pretty Catholic heritage based. We just thought our loved one may of felt a little out of place.

This place is VERY expensive

I toured here. They were nice but it was very costly. They pretty much told us that we needed $250k for my mom to move in. The administrator was very nice, experienced, and knowledgeable about the facility and what they had to offer. Everything was top notch and the rooms were very nice. She was really upfront about the money, and it was understandable, but it was just too much for us. The facility was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I was able to see the restaurant and it seemed to be very nice, almost like it was built for VIPs. It didn't fit our needs but if you have the money for it then it would be a nice place to live.

Doing a good job

Thus far I think they are doing a good job. She seems to be doing rather well. The staff is very friendly and caring. For the most part, they are taking good care of her. The biggest thing is help assist her at night and help her with her nightly routine. I've eaten there with her once and I thought the meal was very good. Mom thinks the food is good and that is the main activity here, the social time during meals They have some activities that mom has participated in. She really likes to play bridge and so far no one there plays. There is the daily mass for those interested. It;s very clean and warm and inviting. There is a patio courtyard and it is nicely landscaped. So far they are doing a good job she hasn't been there that long.

Definitely The Right Place

What a gem! A beautiful facility, plenty of activities and wonderful, caring staff. And of course, best of all, mom loves the place. We were terribly worried and felt she was going to be quite a handful after 60 years in the same house and not wanting to move. To our surprise she settled right into memory care and now one of her conversations is how much she likes her apartment. Mom is relaxed and enjoying herself more than we’ve ever seen and we’re at ease knowing she has the care she needs.

This is community is outstanding. We like that they are attentive. They go out of their way to make sure that the menu is gov.. They have church services more than once a week and this was something that my mom wanted.I feel good knowing that she is happy here with the care that she is receiving. The activities are helpful for her. We would recommend this community for the care and the value for a loved one.
