Sunrise of Sheepshead

The majority of the staff is very friendly and loving. As far as activities, my aunt complains that she's bored a lot. I think it was probably due to pandemic and they didn't have a lot of ways to keep people active during that time. Dining is set up very nice, they always have glassware and nice table cloths. Though my aunt is not always pleased with the food. I also don't feel like they adequately adjusted meals for her medical needs. She has diabetes/high blood pressure and she is sometimes served things she ideally shouldn't have. In terms of care, I'm often very disappointed with the medical care she receives. For cost, the biggest thing is that our cost was underquoted and it ended up being much more.

My mom came in at the entry level. She had a shared suite which was great. Both ladies had their own room and private bathroom with a great safe shower. This was a great value but as soon as one needs more assistance with daily living, the value goes quickly down. It became unaffordable with private pay. I only wish that we could have afforded to stay there. Still, I give Sunrise Of Sheepshead Bay Assisted Living the highest rating. They also play great music! The most wonderful thing about this place is that they communicate with the families. They are on top of their residents care. You get the feeling from the people who work there, that they love their job. It is also a warm, spacious and airy environment. Soft colors and beautifully decorated.

Our family has has a positive experience. They provided great care to our Dad and Stepmom. My Dad is now in Reminiscence, memory care. The staff is wonderful to him and treat him with care and respect. We know he is safe and in good hands. Big thank you Reminisence staff...you are gems. Would have rated it 5 except for inflation.

For anyone looking for an assisted living community, you know just how daunting the process can be. Look no further! Sunrise Of Sheepshead Bay won our mother’s heart the instance she was so warmly greeted. Continued interest and care by Coordinator, [name removed] and nurses, [name removed] and [name removed], both highly competent, make themselves available to residents and families. Many friendly and wonderful people work behind the scenes making this facility run smooth. The food is good, the place is warm, airy, bright and clean. Our family has peace of mind knowing that our mother is no longer alone. She made friends, participates in activities, run by caring, competent individuals. Our mother looks forward to walking with [name removed] each morning. Every time I see [name removed] he tells me how much he loves his job. Our dear mother is getting the care she needs. My mother has been at Sunrise for almost 5 years. Sunrise has given her a great, happy, and enjoyable new chapter in her life. She has a wonderful apartment there, the food makes her happy and the staff treat her like family. We couldnt ask for a better environment for mom to thrive. She loves walking around the Harbor area and the local restaurants and shops. She adjusted to living there seamlessly, always says when asked how she is - "I live in a resort hotel, it's like being on vacation all the time". She made friends and although being any place through the Covid lockdown was difficult everywhere. She was safe and happy.

The community are accommodating at Sunrise at Sheepshead. My loved one is safe, cared for, and that is a great relief. The staff are my eyes and ears when I can't be there. This takes a lot of trust, and I trust them. They are able to assist with bathing, medication management, dressing, and more. They also assist with housekeeping and laundry service for my loved one. The staff are highly responsive, professional, friendly, and easy to work with.

Sunrise of Sheepshead was the first place I looked and the intake manager and tour I was very impressed with. I had no complaints about anything that I saw or was told about. My mom is in memory care, the manger in memory care is exceptional, she works with me, talks with me, and reassures me. She always returns my phone calls as soon as possible. We would highly recommend them to others looking.

I have been here for nine months. It has been a rewarding experience. I lost my husband and my son. Life was very lonely for me. Here I made friends and just plain have a good time every day. People here are kind and considerate. I recommend this place to anyone looking to place a loved one. You won't be sorry. It's amazing.

They have a very good reminiscence wing for people with dementia. But be very well aware that the amazing activities that the general residents partake in are not exactly the same activities for the dementia residents. And you must be extremely proactive and assertive if your family member is in reminiscence and needs incontinence care to avoid any possibility of UTIs. However, overall, it's a wonderful experience, and I see improvement in my loved one in the last three months.

It was a nice place for someone who is able to get around on their own. The rooms were fine. We had a bunch of unexpected problems with my loved one. They put our loved one in a different unit than what we expected. This didn't allow our loved one to be able to participate in activities or be able to see other residents. All my interactions were good, and the community was quick to reply to any concerns. I wouldn't hesitate to use this community in the future for another loved one.

The community is often clean. The staff is friendly for the most part. The administrative staff is excellent and very good with follow-up. The cleaning staff and dinning room staff could be improved. Many times, I have had to follow up on when they are supposed to assist my father with bathing at the proper times. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the community is on lock down and the food brought up his room is often cold and needs to be reheated. Essentially, we often find ourselves needing to be the voice for our father.

The community was clean, although sometimes they would mix up the residents' clothes in the laundry. The staff was a bit of a mixed bag, some of the staff were good and some not quite as good. We thought they could have all used more training with memory care; some of the care giving staff didn't seem to understand the needs of the memory care residents and didn't know how to talk to them. They also really lacked activities and didn't have trained people doing the activities so we didn't feel they were adequate. They were also understaffed quite often. Because of this, we felt they were over charging us for the care especially since we didn't think there was physically enough space for the memory care residents.

Sunrise @ Sheepshead Bay is an efficient facility. Clean,pleasant,friendly,helpful and most of all they care about the residents.

We were very happy to find this facility in New York City for our parents! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and our parents are enjoying their life there. Lovely location!

So far this community is working out well for friend, and her needs. She is staying here until she able to return to her home due to a fire. I do feel she is safe, and in good hands. I go to visit every couple of weeks, and everything is nice, and well kept. The staff is friendly, and she hasn't really had any complaints, or problems. Everything has worked out well, and this is a community I would recommend.

I was looking for a community that would tend to the needs of my parent. They were nicely decorated but the price was a little more than we could handle.
