It was difficult to get written documentation upfront of the facility's policies. I felt that the administrative staff that I met presented the facility well. I just like to see everything in writing. Apparently family is not able to call a loved one directly in their room. Summerset required you to go through the front desk to be connected. But even so, I could never really reach my loved one. The times that I called the operator to set up a FaceTime meeting or just call to speak to him, they always said he was not in his room and they couldn't quite put their hands on where he was at the facility at the time, walking around, etc. I didn't feel like a lot of effort was put into locating him so I could talk to him. And they completely discourage / do not allow visiting in the first several weeks, their rationale being to allow for dementia patients to adjust to being there. But that was absolutely heartbreaking to me.... Read more

We picked this community because, it was convenient, and close to home. It would be nice if they improved on, better communication, cleanliness, and increase the number of staff.

The people were really nice. I really liked it. The owner was nice. The only thing was, they had two different wings, for the nursing home/dementia residents. They did not have an openess.
My tour at Summerset was good. I thought it was a really nice place. It was a huge facility though - so big that I don’t know that my loved one would have done well there. But it seemed really nice.
This community was my second choice for a community. They had a really good foundation and it was a good property. The distance was just a little further than another community that was in the top for me.
My mom stayed there three different times for respite visits. The first stay was about five days, then a weekend, then another weekend. For her first respite visit, we had a very difficult time getting in touch with anyone. There was a head nurse on duty for the weekend, but my sister called several times in a period of a couple of days before anyone called her back. And we felt left in the dark about what was going on during our mom's first ever respite stay. Their medication management is very lacking. Mom was on lots of medications, and she had to tell them they were giving her wrong dosages. There were cockroaches in the room where she stayed. Every time she stayed, they didn't return all of her belongings. The first time, it might have been a shirt. But then they lost half of her dentures and still have not been accountable for it. Their communication when I've shared my concerns has been poor, and I've had to call them several times. They gave us someone else's clothes the last time we picked her up, and when I called about it, he said they should have done a checklist of all the items we brought when we checked in it. But that was never done. I would never recommend Summerset to anyone for those reasons. We were doing respite visits to explore if this might be a place for her long-term, and I'm so glad we did a respite visit first. They are just not a good fit for us. And they're very expensive compared to respite stays at other facilities in the area.

Overall it's been a pretty positive experience and a nice place to live. No place is perfect, but so far so good. My loved one enjoys it here, and it has been what I thought it would be. I've seen some Issues here and there, but overall it's a very good facility. My loved one is eating regularly with rarely a complaint. When she first moved in, the head chef came by to talk with her about what foods she likes and doesn't like, and I was impressed by that. If you're an independent senior with moderate care needs, the assisited living here is a good choice. If you have very high care needs, a nursing home is probably a more appropriate option.

This is a friendly place. I have confidence in the management in the way they are running the community. I would highly recommend the community to others. The attention to detail from the staff is great. There are three meals each day for the residents.

This staff at this community are very friendly, the care service are excellent. We don't know to much about the activities they have, but we do know the residents are always doing something when we come to visit. We really liked how professional the staff was when we first came to visit. The rooms are very clean and nice in size. The food may be a little bland, but overall we think its pretty good.

exorbitant community fee and very expensive for the level of service received. Food is lacking and our loved one was given foods that they are allergic to several times. Very dated and depressing decor that needs immediate updating. Excellent care givers but many of the better ones are leaving because of management's ill treatment of the staff. Little to no activities for the residents. They never see the light of day, and there is no innovative care here, There are far better places and that are less expensive and offer better care and environment than here. do not put your loved ones here.

I have called this place three different times to try to get information about this facility. Each time I call they take my name and number and tell me someone will give me a call. I have yet to hear from anyone. I think this is very unprofessional. Makes you wonder how they care for your family member.

November 25, 2019We're so happy that you approve of your mom's care at Summerset. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review!
My aunt lived here for a while and it is a clean community. The food is good and they offer some daily activities. Most of the staff are nice and took good care of her. They did have some turnover and some of the newer staff members did not seem to be as experienced as the previous staff members. The cost did seem to increase for the care she was receiving and we needed to find another community that would have the same care for a lower price.

The facility and the surrounding community were in complete disrepair. I found the community fee to be outrageous by comparison they did appear to have that many residents or anything going on. It felt hollow. Not to mention the classless, tactless greeteer/ receptionists. I was put off by the request for me to fill out a questionnaire when I was scheduled by APM and no one seemed prepared or aware.
