We chose this place because of the friendliness, reasonable cost, and it's nearby to where I live. My mother is starting out in independent living and she can stay in the same apartment if she needs assisted-living help in the future. Also, they invited her to have lunch with a current resident while we were looking so she could get a feel for it. They offer a wide variety of activities. They do offer housekeeping once a week and can do laundry for an extra fee. Everything seems very clean. Smaller facility where the staff seem to know all the residents. Response from Traditions of Dedham
August 26, 2022Thank you for your five-star review! We love what we do and we're thrilled that it shows!
We chose Traditions of Dedham for a 3 week respite stay for my mom. It was fabulous; although about half of the time she was there, they unfortunately had a Covid outbreak. They seemed to handle it all efficiently. They had all the residents tested, and quarantined those we needed to be isolated. It was an unfortunates experience, but thankfully my mom didn't get Covid. It changed the activities and the dining experience - it wasn't what it could have been during that time. Once things cleared up, she was then able to experience the activities and socialization aspect of being there. Overall they handled it very well and I would recommend Traditions to others for either respite or long term . I think they were very good.

June 21, 2022We greatly appreciate your feedback and your patience with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding your mother's stay. Thank you for your review and for entrusting us to care for her during her respite stay.
Our mother has lived at Traditions for the past 4 years. Initially in assisted living and now Memory care. The staff is amazing. They are all so kind and caring. They know our mother well and have also been a support to us in navigating her care. Attention to detail is where they excell. Mom always looks so nice. Her outfits are clean and even coordinated. They let us know if anything comes up or Mom needs anything at all. We truly can’t say enough good things about Traditions of Dedham.

May 5, 2022Kate, thank you so much for your review. We appreciate your kind words and are so pleased to have your mom at Traditions!
My friend is quite contrary, she tends to irritate the aids which makes it difficult for her because she is very dependent on the assistance from them. She has not quite gotten the feel for it all since she has private aids and expects them all to act that way. Some are wonderful but I think some could be more sympathetic. The activities are wonderful, I have seen many of them going on. I have been to several of the religious services, painting classes, concerts, etc. The room sizes at Traditions are the largest out of all of the other facilities that we toured. The staff are very good with their response time and come when she calls them. Overall I am very happy with the facility, but my friend is hit or miss depending on the day.

April 25, 2022Thank you very much for taking the time to review Traditions of Dedham! We are so pleased to have your friend as a resident and appreciate the feedback you have left. We are always looking for ways to improve and cannot do so without reviews like yours. We hope that you both will continue to enjoy our daily activities and community as a whole.
Traditions of Dedham has a smaller more homey atmosphere and it has an older transitional look with a modern attitude. The room sizes are fabulous and very spacious. Overall the staff and the care she is getting and the diligence and response time has been awesome. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience and would definitely recommend them to others.

April 21, 2022Thank you for your five-star review and for entrusting us with the care of your loved one!
The general areas are cleaner than my loved one's room, but it's not that clean overall. I'm not very happy with the care that she's getting. I don't know if it's the times due to Covid. Also, it has been an adjustment for my mother, and she complains a lot. She says she can't understand them. They all speak Haitian, and then she herself speaks broken English. She can't hear well, and she feels like they yell at her a lot. They've all been very nice to me. She loves the kitchen staff and says they're wonderful to her. The recreational staff is absolutely wonderful, [name removed] in particular. He has been exceptionally nice to her. Some of the aides she really loves. Some respect her wishes not to come in too early, and others just do as they please. I think the care staff are very overworked, and some try to accommodate her, while others try to accommodate themselves. Also, when we first interviewed Traditions, they told me that she was first on the in-house list for financial assistance. And now I feel like I was deceived. Since we've been there, they now say there are two people ahead of us, and I'm not sure why.

Response from Traditions of Dedham
February 14, 2022Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We are always looking for ways that we can improve, and the only way that we measure success is by your satisfaction. It is very heartwarming to hear your kind words about our associate staff, but I am sorry that your mother sometimes has difficulty hearing or understanding them. As for the cleanliness issue, there is obviously no excuse for that, and I hope you found that to be productively addressed in your recent meeting with the Executive Director. I hope that financial assistance issue was also addressed satisfactorily. It can be a complex topic, and the last thing we want you to feel is somehow mislead. Again, thank you for your constructive criticism, and thank you far being a part of our community at Traditions.
We toured this community and the tour was good. The staff was very friendly and they answered all our questions. The pricing was higher than other communities in the area.
I moved my dad into Traditions of Dedham over six months ago. He was very reluctant to move anywhere, and it took a significant amount of coaxing. I rarely post reviews but feel strongly enough to post and hopefully help others in making this important decision. I toured eight assisted living complexes in the MetroWest Boston area in 2017. There were pros and cons with all and I did my best balancing location, price, services, activities and cleanliness into my decision. This is not an easy task since all facilities will do their best presenting to you a wonderful image during your tour along with expressing the high level of care they provide to their senior population. Traditions of Dedham has exceeded my highest expectations in every area. Initially, I was concerned that my dad would be sitting in his room for most of the day watching television. The reality is that he rarely sits alone in his lovely apartment and is continually on the move participating in almost all the activities. It reminds me of overnight summer camp as a kid. He doesn’t like, but loves, the food and is eating a very well balanced and nutritionally sound diet. He can order anything on the menu and often chooses one of the two specials at each meal. The dining room is staffed by an accommodating staff and there are often office personnel who help during meals. Everyone working at Traditions knows every guest’s name and meal preferences. Whether it’s tea, coffee, fruit cups or juice, it is always at their seat before anyone sits down. I live 15 minutes away in Wellesley and am a regular visitor. Whenever I am there I witness a staff of employees cleaning everything including hand rails, switches, chairs and walls. The level of maintenance and cleaning is and was a factor in my evaluation of the facility. My dad’s room is cleaned weekly along with his sheets being laundered. There are several laundry rooms with updated machines at no cost to the community. The management staff at Traditions of Dedham are all engaged in every aspect of running the facility. I was initially surprised by the accessibility of everyone in the community with the office. Everyone’s door is always open in the main office. My dad has made many friends and absolutely loves his new home and community. I strongly recommend that if you are looking for a fabulous home for your parent(s), you consider Traditions of Dedham. They have exceeded all expectations!

Response from Traditions of Dedham
July 23, 2018Eric, your heartfelt recommendation means so much to the entire team here at Traditions of Dedham. We also agree that comparing communities at a glance can be a difficult task. On paper, what you hear from one to the next, can start to sound the same. We've always felt that the best gauge of a community, is how you feel from the moment you walk in. We pride ourselves on building a vibrant, safe, and supportive home where our residents thrive through meaningful lifelong learning and social programming, healthful dining options that taste good, and a team of valued associates who fully embrace our right values mission which places quality of life for our residents as our utmost priority. Thank you for sharing your dad's story. We are lucky to have him here and he is lucky to have such a caring family by his side.
Folks, the prior reviews are from people who "toured" the facility. What a crock. It's been numerous years since my mom stayed at Traditions, but they were far from 5 stars and I find it suspect that real users answers are buried. Mine shall likely be as well. Beware of a clean facad. That is not the best way to judge a facility.

Response from Traditions of Dedham
July 12, 2018Since your mother was a resident of Traditions of Dedham numerous years ago there have been some changes that current residents and families are telling me have been very positive. The company I work for, Senior Living Residences of Braintree, MA, assumed oversight of the day-to-day operations of the community in January of this year. We have been a trusted name in senior care and housing in Massachusetts for over 25 years. Part of our transition in leadership included a unified effort to: improve the quality of resident care and services most especially in the memory support neighborhood (re-named Compass Memory Support); provide comprehensive staff training and professional development; and implement increased communications with residents and families. In many recent community-wide family meetings and individual conversations, residents and family members have provided very positive reviews of current community life at Traditions of Dedham. Our EnrichedLIFE Director is very well liked and gets almost unanimous positive feedback on his robust social, fitness and adult learning programs. I have also received positive responses to our other efforts to improve resident care and other services. I agree with you that consumers should be cautious when sorting through online reviews. I can personally attest to the fact that Traditions of Dedham has a close-knit community of residents and families who are eager to share their positive experiences. I am sorry you were not happy when your Mom lived here years ago. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you would like to discuss your experience further. At Senior Living Residences we are proud of our commitment to constant improvement and innovation. An important part of that mission is soliciting feedback and listening to families so that we can provide the very best assisted living has to offer seniors. Michael Schaus, Senior Executive Director, Traditions of Dedham
Traditions of Dedham was a very nice and clean community that we toured. It is a lovely place. The marketing director was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We chose another smaller community and the price was more in line with our budget.

Out of all of the communities that we visited this was the friendliest! The residents themselves walked up to us and said hello. The staff is also wonderful with the residents. My mother is more active and actually gained weight. She is doing more here than she did at the house. I would definitely rate the Traditions of Dedham 5 stars. I am glad my mother enjoys it here and I am glad that the staff is excellent.

We selected Traditions of Dedham after looking at 10 other places. They had everything we were looking for and more. We are happy with it, she is happy so we are happy, and she is truely happy! She loves the food, and is enjoying not having to worry about daily chores. She is slowly getting more involved. She had a friend visit and they were very accommodating. They do special things for the residents, at Valentines day they gave everyone corsages, even her guest! We always feel welcome when we visit, The staff is wonderful! They weren't the least expensive but not the most expensive either. They were priced fairly. I also like that she is independent but if she starts to have care needs she can get an hour of help with whatever she needs instead of being charged for each care need. The work really hard on the activities, they have things to do and they go on outings sometimes as well. I have recommended Traditions to several people!

This was a nice looking community, we very much liked what we saw when we toured. The staff were friendly, and the apartments were beautiful. This would have been our first choice, but the area of town it was in was just too busy. My mother-in-law really likes to take walks, and this would not have been an area where she could do that. Other than that everything was great.
